My Story Outside of Work

People often only see the work, the output, the results. But I think what shapes all that is the person behind it—and the stuff that happens off the clock. I’m not just a job title or a skillset. This is about who I really am when no one’s watching.

Where I Come From

I was born on April 18, 2006, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. I didn’t stay there long—my family moved back to Pakistan when I was two. I’ve lived in Pakistan since then. The mix of early memories from both places may be short, but it gave me a small but lasting sense that there’s always more than one way to see the world.

I didn’t grow up with big plans or clear goals. I was just a kid messing around with things, curious about how stuff worked. Around the age of seven, I found myself drawn to creative and digital stuff—not because someone told me to, but because I liked figuring things out and building stuff for fun. That curiosity is still there today, just in different forms.

Family – Quiet Support

My family has shaped me, even if we’re not the most talkative bunch. My parents care about me in their own way. I don’t always speak to them much, but I know they’re proud when they see me doing well. That silent kind of support sticks with you.

My brother Usama had a more active role—he nudged me toward things that opened up new paths. Some of my relatives stay distant, while others keep up with my progress and share kind words when they see me doing something meaningful. I also have a sister, and though we don’t always talk deeply, she’s in some of the memories I hold onto closely.

How I See Myself

I try to be honest about things, including how I look or feel. I’d rate myself a 7 out of 10 in terms of appearance. I’m thin and my hair and beard often look unkept. That’s not self-pity—it’s just how I see myself, without filters.

As for health, I’d give myself a 6 out of 10. I deal with some stomach issues, don’t always sleep well, and have a minor ear problem. I’ve got a black mark on my leg and some chest pimples. Nothing serious, just stuff that reminds me I’m not a machine. These aren’t complaints—they’re just parts of daily life I manage like anyone else.

The Stuff I Like Doing

Photography caught my eye early. Capturing a moment, a street, or just something ordinary with a camera feels natural to me. I also got into video making. One of my personal projects, Khanpur Katora Documentary, felt important—not just technically, but because it helped me tell something that felt close to home.

Gaming was another interest. I even started a YouTube channel called UJGamer418 when some friends talked me into uploading videos. It was fun at first, but over time, I realized I didn’t feel the same pull toward it as I did with photography and video editing. It was one of those things where it made sense to walk away and focus on what mattered more.

Travel is something I enjoy too—not in a “vacation” way, but because seeing different places clears my head. Trips like the one to Bahawalpur gave me space to reset and helped me see things differently when I came back.

What Keeps Me Going

I’ve had moments where I felt like quitting—times when outside noise got too loud. But one thought keeps me grounded:
“If I stop just because of what people say, I’ll end up even further behind.”

That line helps me push through. Not every day is productive. Some days are messy, some feel pointless. But I’ve learned that showing up still matters. My work connects to who I am and where I come from, and I try to carry that with me in every project I touch.

Final Words

I’m not trying to tell some perfect story. I’ve had days where I felt lost and others where I felt like I was finally getting it right. My personal life isn’t a polished version—it’s the quiet mornings, the late-night editing sessions, the skipped meals, the small wins, and the setbacks I rarely talk about.

But that’s what makes it real. I’m Usman Jatoi. This is just my life—how it is, how I see it, and what I’m learning as I go.
